Benefit from a healthy closed circuit.
Glacier Environmental Ltd recognises that pre-commission cleaning of closed circuits is a crucial step in ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of heating and cooling systems.
We follow British Standard BSRIA BG29/50 which provides comprehensive guidance on the pre-commission cleaning process, outlining best practices and procedures to remove debris, contaminants, and corrosion products from closed circuits before system commissioning.
Key steps in our pre-commission
cleaning process
Glacier Environmental and BG29/50 recommends the following key steps for pre-commission cleaning of closed circuits.
System Assessment
Evaluate the condition of the closed circuit system to determine the extent of contamination and the appropriate cleaning methods required. This may include sampling and testing for chemical and microbiological contamination.
Flushing
Flush the system thoroughly using water or a suitable cleaning solution to remove loose debris, sediment, and contaminants from pipes, heat exchangers and other components.
Chemical Treatment
Apply chemical cleaning agents as necessary to dissolve and disperse stubborn deposits, scale, and corrosion products adhering to internal surfaces.
Circulation
Circulate the cleaning solution through the system at the recommended flow rates and temperatures to achieve effective cleaning and debris removal.
Filtration
Install temporary filtration devices to capture suspended solids and particulate matter dislodged during the cleaning process, preventing recontamination of the system.
Additional flushing
Rinse the system thoroughly with clean water to remove residual cleaning agents and suspended solids, ensuring the system is clean and ready for commissioning.
Protection & longevity
Addition of a suitable corrosion inhibitor and biocide chemical treatment and monitor.
Benefits of pre-commission cleaning
Improve Efficiency
Elimination of corrosive substances and corrosion products reduces the risk of corrosion-related damage to system components, extending their service life.
Reduced risk of corrosion
Elimination of corrosive substances and corrosion products reduces the risk of corrosion-related damage to system components, extending their service life.
Prevention of blockages
Cleaning prevents blockages and flow restrictions caused by debris accumulation, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the closed circuit system.
Compliance
Compliance with BG29/50 guidelines and industry best practices ensures that the closed circuit system meets regulatory requirements and performance standards.
